Excellent Hydrating Night Cream
Nakery makes very good skincare products. I’ve reviewed several as a vine voice and I have come to trust and appreciate this brand for their attention to quality and detail. The Night Shift cream is lovely. The consistency is quite dense and more like a mask. You apply it before you go to bed and let it work while you sleep. You are encouraged to wash it off in the morning, but I have not done that.This cream contains retinol, magnesium and NAD+ in addition to the powerhouse antioxidants melatonin and methylene blue. These ingredients all work together to renew skin at the cellular level. They stop the breakdown of and promote new collagen production. It also has chamomile and valerian root extracts that help to calm irritation. Sunflower oil, Shea butter, cocoa butter, mango seed butter, hyaluronic acid, and sweet almond oil help plump up the skin and promote long lasting hydration.This night cream goes on heavy but spreads evenly and absorbs well. It does leave a thin barrier behind that locks in moisture while it continues to work as the night goes on. The first time I used it I noticed that my skin was more soft and supple in the morning. After a couple of weeks, I could see that my skin was starting to appear brighter and it was more hydrated throughout the day. Some of the fine lines around my eyes eased a bit. I am optimistic that this product will continue to improve my overall skin quality.Night Shift is fragrance free and a funky robin’s egg blue color, though it doesn’t read blue on your skin. I did not have any adverse reactions to this cream. The retinol did not make my skin peel or cause redness like I have experienced with some other retinol based products.Nakery is a small business brand and their products are manufactured in the USA. The pretty blue glass jar is boxed beautifully and sealed. Price is excellent for 2.3 ounces. Most high end creams offer a lot less product in this price range. Affordable enough to try for anyone looking to try an overnight cream. I would recommend.

I wish this fit into my skincare routine because I love it!
I’ve only used one other product with methylene blue and really liked it, though I’m not sure it added much as an ingredient. The color is fun and the inclusion of retinol, NAD+, magnesium in addition to the methylene blue is interesting, as it’s not a combination I’ve seen before. I have sensitive/reactive skin, so I do worry about one or more of the ingredients causing irritation (retinol is a common culprit, but I don’t know how I react to the other active ingredients in this).This goes on very thick, but spreads well. It leaves a distinct film on my skin for a couple of hours and then finally sinks in. I’m a restless side sleeper and if a night cream sits on top of my skin, it tends to get rubbed off on my pillow. I will say that if you use light-colored pillowcases, it’s possible that the methylene blue could stain them if it’s not absorbed well enough, but this isn’t heavily tinted with it.Since this is a night cream, I didn’t try layering makeup over it, but it would definitely have to be given plenty of time to absorb first if it were used pre-makeup. Other skincare products layered well with it, without it interfering with smooth application or product absorption. It doesn’t leave a blue cast to my skin if that’s a concern, and I have quite fair skin, so I would imagine if it was going to stain or leave a tint along with the residue, I would notice.I tried this for two nights in a row and was pleased with the results I saw (my skin felt soft, smooth and looked fresher, with no irritation even though my skin is sensitive). I unfortunately can’t use this long term, as it conflicts with my skincare routine as it stands and I don’t want to change the entire routine to accommodate one new item, even if it’s one that I particularly enjoy.In spite of not being able to give this as long term a test as I’d have liked without starting my skincare routine over from scratch, I have to say I’m impressed with this cream. It seems to really make my skin happy and I look so refreshed when I wake up in the mornings, with glowing skin, brighter under eyes and a plumpness that I don’t typically see in my cheeks, entirely unlike my normal “living dead” appearance.
